CORRECTIONS

Corrections & Right of Reply

We hold public figures to their public record, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. If we have published something inaccurate, out of context, or unfair, we want to know, and we will act quickly.

If you are mentioned on this platform

Every public figure we cover has a right of reply. If you are named here and wish to respond, correct, or add context, contact us using the details below. We will:

  • Acknowledge your message within 2 business days.
  • Review the item against its original sources.
  • Where we find an error, correct or remove it promptly and note the correction.
  • Where the record is accurate but you wish to add context, publish your response alongside the item so readers see your side.

You do not need a lawyer to ask for a correction, and asking for one is free.

File a correction

You can also file a correction directly here. No account is needed, and we will reply within 14 days to the contact address you give us.

Or request a correction by email

Email corrections@beacon.lk with:

  1. The page or item you are writing about (a link is ideal).
  2. What you believe is inaccurate, missing, or unfair.
  3. Any supporting sources, if you have them.

If you are the public figure named, or an authorised representative, please say so: it helps us prioritise and route your request.

How we handle corrections

  • Factual errors (wrong date, misquote, misattribution, wrong source) are corrected as soon as they are verified.
  • Disputed interpretation is handled by publishing your reply and, where warranted, revising our wording or adding context.
  • Removal. If an item cannot be substantiated to our standard, we take it down rather than leave it up.

A note on our analysis

Where we present analysis of how a person’s statements relate to one another, that analysis is our opinion, based on the public sources we link. We publish those sources precisely so readers can judge for themselves. If our opinion rests on a factual mistake, that is a correction we will make without hesitation.
